How Consignment Work

It is the sole responsibility of each consignor to know and understand the expiration date of their contracted items. Home Consign and Design (HCD) does not notify the Consignor of Inventory sold or about to become expired. At 121 days, all inventory becomes the property of HCD regardless of size or value. 1. It is implied that all items dropped off or left at HCD are considered and subject to the following terms and conditions, regardless of a signed contract.

2. All items for consignment must be Preapproved.

3. All consigned items are owned by the Consignor. 

4. All items are to be delivered in clean and ready-to-sell condition. There will be a cleaning and/or repair fee if we need to clean or repair any consigned item(s) with a $50 minimum and/or a $20 hardware fee. 

5. HCD is not responsible for any damage, theft, or loss of items. Make sure your Homeowner’s Insurance policy covers your consigned items. 

6. HCD / Consignor Split:

                          0-60 days 60/40 Commission Split

                          61-120 days 70 / 30 Commission Split

                          121st Day - Item becomes HCD property

7. The price will be finalized by HCD upon in-person inspection. HCD reserves the right to reevaluate pricing at any time.

8. HCD will hold initial pricing for the first 30 days of receipt. After 30 days, all items are subject to price reductions, which will affect the Consignor's earnings. After 60 days, HCD may reduce the price by 50% of the original pricing. We encourage our Consignor's to monitor their inventory and be proactive in selling their items. 

9. At the end of the 120 day contract, the Consignor must commit to picking up their items. If not picked up after clear communications with HCD Staff, HCD become the owner of the items.

10. Payment checks to Consignors will be printed in the 1st week of the following month the item(s) are sold. All payments will be mailed.
